You lot see a woman dating a camp or “effeminate” man and go “haha does she know she’s a beard” as if bi men don’t exist and don’t have cause to subvert gender norms/have a complicated relationship with masculinity, regardless of who they’re dating.
There’s also this implication that these women who date “effeminate” men can’t be genuinely attracted to them and are naive and oblivious towards their effeminacy. It a complete refusal to acknowledge that not only do gnc bi men exist, but women can be and are actually attracted to them. There doesn’t have to be settling or smoke screens in the relationship for it to work.
On this day, 13 July 1948, Japan introduced the Eugenics Protection Act into law. The bill had been submitted by the Socialist Party, and legalised abortion and some types of contraception, but its main provision was to greatly expand sterilisations of disabled people to prevent the birth of supposedly “poor-quality” children. Over the next half-century, nearly 17,000 people, mostly women and girls – some as young as 9 – were forcibly sterilised. Another 8,000 were sterilised with “consent”, although in reality they were probably put under pressure by authorities to agree. Many of those sterilised had been diagnosed with mental health problems, or things like “hereditary feeble-mindedness”. Meanwhile, nearly 60,000 women had abortions because of illnesses which were allegedly “hereditary”. The law was only eventually overturned in 1996, and paltry compensation paid to surviving victims in 2019. While eugenics more recently is normally associated with the far right, in the past figures on the left had advocated for it as well.

The biggest loss from the old Star Wars Extended Universe becoming non-canon is that we lost Atton Rand, a character who canonically thinks about fucking all the time so Jedi will stop reading his mind.
Since the referendum in Russia has approved of Putin’s changes to Constituition, letting him stay in power until 2035, redefining marriage as “union of man and woman” and the government literally having talks about banning rainbow and comparing rainbow flags to nazi symbolism, it’s not been great for the LGBT+ community here.
In addition to that, we had the awful “Gay Propaganda” law since 2013 and the number of hate crimes towards LGBT+ Russians has increased greatly since then, and it’s likely to increase even more now.
